Senior Marketer

Our client is the marketing director at a major London food wholesaling business.

He had this to say about the coaching process, "I had a continual feeling of under achievement and dissatisfaction thus far with my career. I was frustrated knowing my potential but failing to achieve it. I wanted to get some third party, unambiguous advice on my situation.

"The definition of my strengths was good. Defining my capabilities gave me a sense of the direction I should be taking. I also had greater confidence to pursue that direction.

"In a way, you could say my strengths did not ‘exist’ for me before I named them. I was not consciously aware of what it was I was applying in a particular situation. For example, I have always known that I really understand what makes people tick, but never consciously built on it as a strength.  Now I am confident that I know a particular person can do something, even if they don’t know, and I can stand my ground in a discussion about his future. I am totally confident I can help them make the most of their potential.  I realise I have good judgement over how people should develop. Once you have defined it you know you are using it. You pull out this strength and apply it like a tool, 'I am now operating in a strength.'

"I definitely feel the coaching was worthwhile. I am enjoying my job now. The health of the business is good in terms of relating to the customer, the internal customer and dealing with financial information well. I’ve successfully influenced the way others in the senior team operate."
